I need a way to break this metaphorical ice everyone speaks of...?

so theres a TOTAL CUTIE that sits diagonal from me in homeroom. He is so 100% my type (on the outside). I know we could totally get along, but I'm terrified of boys..... any ideas? on how to talk to him, what to say, etc etc.
