White men being gentlemen?

My mother and I were walking out of a store when a Caucasian male rudely jumped between us. We live in the south. I generally expect older men (40+) to be more respectful to ALL women and I've had every color open doors for me. Had we been white or maybe even Asian he would have kindly let us go first. I've had people like him be rude to me, then turn around and help a white woman out. Why are people of any color like this? I expect older people to be a little racist but geez...treat women with respect. Who cares what color she is????
