Does the EU serve a good purpose...?

The purpose of the European union originated after world war II to secure peace in Europe and stabilize the economic markets that were ravaged from years of extremist war policies. Originally, its started as a simple community between 6 European Nations securing the coal and steel market (a booming market during the late 19th and mid 20th century). Over the decades, it evolved, now boasting over 150 members, and supporting and all encomping network of integrated economic and trade unions.
