Can someone explain how heat affects the reaction rate?

heating increases the kinetic energy, which in turn makes the molecules fly around faster. For a reaction to occur, molecules must collide and the collision must have enough energy (called activation energy). When adding heat, both of these are increased, the collision rate and the strength of the impact, meaning that the reaction rate is increased with heat.
